Whats the biggest shot that can be run on a STOCK Corvette?(EVERYTHING stock!) I'm wondering because I was asking on my WS6 forum about putting nitrous on my car... and I compared it to my bfs C5 when he ran a 150 shot, someone said something about the vettes have a 4 bolt main and us TAs have a 2 bolt main... I'm wondering if this is true... I was going to run a 100 shot thinking it would be safe... I'm just wondering if the two cars are different and I really need to watch how much nitrous I run... thanks guys! I will have nitrous soon

So you're saying its ok? I guess I could have posted this at a more general forum like LS1tech but there aren't many C5 guys over there! I prefer to ask the professionals! I just don't want to blow anything up, and it seems you are running a 150 shot with no problem...

150 Wet Shot no problem, Just make sure You check You A/F Ratio's and obv. change Your Spark Plugs to a NGK TR6 or similiar plug. I've been running a 150 NX set up in my 99' FRC since 2000 with no problems at all.
Do you know off hand how much the plugs cost? I was just about to do a tune up, and if nitrous is in my future, why pay for stock ones now when I will need the ones you mentioned later... Just want to know how much doe I am planning on spending so I don't go blow any money on something I don't need.

I'm not sure about AUTOZONE , But any High Performance Shop would have them . I can give You a last resort plug (Fram autolite 103) but I don't like that plug for some reason (the brand) but I have used it but I like the NGK'S better. Stick to the NGK'S .
where did you get yours? there is a place in town called Redline Performance, I wonder if they would have them... also, what about a diff pump? Someone also said it would be better to get a racetronix pump to replace the stock one...

I bought my Plugs from a performance shop 5 minutes from my House where I work on my car , Upgrading a Fuel Pump would be beneficial(safety) but not necessary depending on Your Mods (HP Level).
Advance auto has them for 25$. Just go in there tell the, what you want. NGK-tr6's I have been runnina 150 shot for 2yrs now. I have sprayed the car through every RPM range, through the shifts, and still no problems. I had 1 accident when I left the traction control on and I sprayed the car, tires got loose, traction control kicked on and cut fuel while the nitrous was still spraying and I melted a plug. No biggie, had to drive home with 7 cylinders firing. Trust me your car will be fine. I am VERY hard on my car and it never misses a beat, that is why I love it so much. Like they CHEVY, LIKE A ROCK.....

Haha, I trust chevy more than pontiac...
So thats all I need, maybe a diff fuel pump, and the diff plugs? I just want to make sure I have everything!
Thanks for the help guys! Even if I don't drive a C5, YET
I use a TNT 125hp wet kit and get about 125 hp extra (at peak) at the wheels. The additional hp spread (vs no spray) is 195hp at 3300 rpm and an extra 250 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels.
BTW, the LS6 engine uses 6-point main caps made from syntered metal (not even forged).
Your motor is basically the same as the vette motor. Nothing major is different. 150 wet shout should be fine, but most people start with a 100shot.
I would worry more about your stock 10bolt rear holding together than the motor.
Go to ls1tech.com and search the n20 forum. Tons of f-body guys there and n20 specific vendors who can get you exactly what you need to run a safe setup.
isn't a new rear end REAL expensive? Maybe I should stay safe and run a 100 shot so I don't break anything... I've already posted on LS1tech about this, there are some guys helping me out, now the thing is I need to find a kit, for el cheapo!
Check out the NOS brand 5177 (75hp/125hp) as it is very safe and you can pick it up for about $450/500 with everything you need to get started. Probably the most popular kit for f-body guys. Oh yea, it's also a dry kit. I agree, check out ls1tech .com for daily input on setting up and using this kit and most others.
isn't NX a better brand? I mean, I've never heard of anyone using NOS unless it was a ricer or something... most f bods i know use NX...
You've got to be kidding right? NX was started by guys from NOS and were do you think they learned their info. NOS has been around longer than most of the johnny come lately n2o companys. IMO the NOS 5177 kit is probably the most popular kit, mostly with the f-body guys. Now it is a dry kit and NX is wet. It's not about what kit is better but what it has to offer. Sure you can put a 150hp nx wet on and away you go and a lot of guys get away with it, but some also loose their intakes/hoods. that is because the manifold was designed by the engineerers to be a dry manifold. You would be very hard pressed to find someone who blew their motor running a dry kit. I take it personal that you compare me/group with the ricer crowd. To bad your not in my area as I would show you what a Nitrous Oxide System dry kit will do on my Z06, I don't give out my numbers as I still do street sometimes, but let's just say I am looking to get into the tens with NOS. I have been doing N2O for over 20 years and have used most brands, wet mostly, but I always come back to NOS. You should do some research before you bring that ricer crap on this forum.
Dude you need to No one I know uses that kit, everyone I know uses Nx or the Venom kit... thats all I was pointing out. I did not think of you as a ricer for using that kit, I've just never heard of someone with a f bod using it... I am not using my stock manifold either... you jumping all over me like that was uncalled for, jees I feel like I am on Mustang Forums ... it was a simple question... maybe you shouldn't get offended so easily . I wasn't ruling your suggestion out, just a little skeptical since I don't know anyone running NOS on my F bod forums or LS1tech, seems to me they all use something else...
