I have a 2000 coupe and so far so good. The newer the car the better, and the stock rims on the 2000 look better than the 99 in my opinion.

I would think either one would make your cousin a nice car. I think if you search the Forum, you find it was the 2001 model year for the most part that had the oil consumption issues. Good luck to your cousin.
