My cousin is looking at 2 C5s a guy we know has for sale.
One is a 1999 the other is a 2000. Both are coupes, automatics, torch red, with around 20k miles. Each has the base wheels. He likes both but with all things being equal should he go for the 99' or 2000??
Weve heard some bad things about oil burning in the 2000 model.
But the 2000 has the new style wheels. Is the 99' the one to pick??????
I have an '00 and it has been a great car. Little to no issues. No burning oil here. The new style wheels do look a lot better. If my car is any indication of the entire years production, I have to give it the
I go by this rule of thumb when looking to buy a car. Buy the newest car you can afford.

Not many of the '00s had the oil burning issue. Unfortunately, mine is one of them. But, with the rings replaced, all has been well. The oil consumption issue was mainly in the '01 model year. I always say get the newest car you can afford with the lowest miles, and of course with the options you want. The Y2K wheels are a nice change.
Of the 2, I'd pick the one based on condition/options (although, price may be an issue for the buyer as well).
However, when I was in the market for a C5, I started with the 99's, believe it or not, I like the original C5 wheels.... :-) (a form-follows-function design). also, i don't think there were any performance related design improvements for 2000
BTW; isn't 99 the last year without the tattle tail "black box"? i think they started that in 2000
