Default Homelink Mirror

I know that a while back I had seen information on a Homelink mirror that had garage door opener and a compass built in. I had one on my 350Z.

Anybody have one or know of one for the C5? If so, where can I get it and at what cost?

Thanks.

Mito and Gentex make them. At one point one of the supporting dealers was working on it but I think that well thru the cracks.

Here is the Gentex

Ken Fichtner Chevrolet is still working on a fully integrated GM or equal rear view mirror. The issue, I'm told is licensing the plug. Best,

Question for 14U2ENV:

is the Gentex unit plug and play with the GM plug?

I don't know, I was holding off on this until I head what the deal was on Fichtner's fix and said the heck with it. I went a different route (visior) for the Homelink.

Gentex will likely not be plug and play. It comes with its own wire harness which includes temp sensor. The new ones are pretty sweet they also come with LED maplights and dual line temp / compass.

Would you lose the courtesy interior lights if you went with the mirror solution? If this is true, the visor solution might be better.

Thanks for the info. I'll check out the Gentex.

What can you tell me about the visor option?

Got mine off eBay. Fairly easy install.

How do you like it? and how do the LED maplights look?

The only downside to this is I really like the little amber "moodlight" mounted under the stock mirror that gives the center counsil some light at night. Looks cool. I wonder if this light can be somehow mounted in the Gentex.

I installed the Gentex and think it works very well and looks great. You need to order it with the map light option to replace the functionality of the stock mirror. With the map light option you can set it to give the dim light over the shifter when it is dark. It was not difficult to mount or wire, but it took me about four calls to the tech support line to get the pin-out connections to control the outside driver mirror's dimmer.

Here is one more link to see the mirror.

Does the C5 plug fit the mirror or is there a new plug that has to be wired to fit the mirror? Not dificult for you could mean very frustrating for guys like me with lots of thumbs! Anything you can recall about the pin-out connections would be helpful. Best,
