My rims/tires came in 4 boxes with cardboard "padding" taped to each side of each tire/wheel.... I was very impressed and happy having spent several thousand dollars.
How does one go about shipping tires and/or tires and wheels?
Where would you find a box big enough to do that - I know, do 4 boxes, but even that would be a challenge finding a box(es)
Anybody ever done it?
I JUST shipped mine to FL. I went to Staples and bought a roll of 20 inch clear plastic wrap and 4 rolls of packing tape. I put card board over the front face of the wheels and some pieces of foam, then wrapped everything up with a few layers of the clear wrap and tapped it off.

I JUST shipped mine to a guy in FL. I went to Staples and bought a 1,000 yard roll of clear shipping plastic (the stretchy stuff) and 4 rolls of packing tape (everything was like 30 bucks). Then I took flat cardboard pieces and put them over the face of each wheel. After that I added pieces of styrofoam (I used the sides of a foam cooler I got at Target for 4 bucks). After that, I wrapped each wheel up in a few layers of the plastice and tapped the seams. They arrived in perfect condition.
I went online to ups.com and printed my own shipping labels and dropped them off at a ups store (mailboxes etc). Shipping for all four with 250 insurance on each wheel was $112.00 from MD to FL.
FedEx ground will be much less $$ than UPS. If its just tires, they just stick a label on each tire.
FedEx was the cheapest. Took it to the FedEx place and they taped the sticker on the pair of tires. $35 total for two front tires if I remember correctly....

Great tip on how to ship tires/wheels. This should really protect them for the next owner.
I don't box them. I cut out circles from cardboard to protect the wheel. Tape two wheels/tires into one big bundle using the cardboard circles to protect the wheels lips/faces. The wheels' front faces can usually be placed facing together without rubbing, but if they are, you can still protect them by placing the front faces outward and place one circular cardboard on each face.
