Clacking Noise under acceleration **HELP**
Well, they claim to have had a Bit@@ of a time doing it and had to move the motor out of the way to get them to fit.
Anyways, They delivered the car to my work and the manager told me that he thought I had eith a lifter problem or maybe a bent push rod. Cause when your under acceleration (Decently Hard not WOT) when you pass 3.5 to 4K rpm the motor starts making a clacking noise. but not really a metal to metal clunking.
It goes away after about 600rpm. What could this be??? He seems to think it was there before the header swap but the KOOKS made it noticeable.
They did drive my car 40 miles back to me and I really dont feel they had any business taking my car to 5K rpm.
Could they have done something to it. They are very knowledgeable and had quite a few C5's in the shop. I dont know why they would have wanted to toy with my car it's pretty much stock... What could this be cause I'm clueless...
BTW, It a 2000 C5 M6 with 43,000 miles
and if they dispute tell them to remove the headers and then we'll find out if it was them or not.

99% sure you have an exhaust leak. Probably the header gasket (I am guessing they tossed the excellant stock metal ones in favor of crappy aftermarket paper ones). It could also be the O2 tube connection is not made correctly. Either way it is likely an exhaust leak. And YES when it is a header gasket - it makes an AWFUL racket - just like a stuck lifter or screwed up rod (I have had this happed a few times on other hot rods).
My main fear is they may have crossthreaded a bolt during the install and that caused the problem. It could also be they tore the aftermarket gasket during installation.

When the car is idling its dead quiet. It only becomes apparent for about 600-700 rpm under acceleration.
And to be able to hear it with your windows rolled up at 3500 RPM and Kooks headers with high flow cats and B&B Bullets, "You know its gotta be loud"
Thanks
