First one..how do you take out the connector on your battery cable that screws onto the battery's side post? My positive screw has gotten corroded and needs replaced. Second one... what is the best thing to use to take powder coated paint off of something? I took my hood hinges and door hinges to be chromed and they said they did not have the right stuff to remove the powder coat. They said that that was pretty hard paint to remove. Thanks.. There was a previous post that stated that they used "aircraft paint stripper". That is what I remember anyway. And I think it's to the public but not sure where. I am sure someone will chime in to let you know.
On most GM vehicles, the bolt is removable, held in place with a spring washer. Just remove, and take to a hardware and purchase one the same size. Make sure it is no longer, or you could penetrate the battery.
You have a common problem - a leaky Delco battery. Read all the details here. On my wife's Suburban (same battery, same problem) I had to hack the reminents of the battery post off of the terminal bolt - it might be easier to just replace the positive cable if it is too bad.
Once you get that battery out of there you need to throughly examine everything underneath the battery checking for signs of acid damage.

Hey Jim...where did you go for the chrome plating, anyplace here in town? I see where Hereitge advertises that they do chrome.

Ken.I have used two places and they both are SLOOOOOW! Hereitge took about 10 weeks .They send your things to Dayton then they buff them. Looked O.K. The place in Cols tryed to remove the paint and did not get it all off and it did not "take "the chrome to good .I took it back and they said they re-chromed them but I don't think they did . They had my stuff since Nov. 19th and told me it would only take a couple of weeks to do and I just got them back this past Fri. so I will not deal with them again. I am going to call a place in Newark next time . Jim
