Default TPIS LT header ?

Is there anyway to get around the cut and weld part for these headers?
I have seen the Random Tech Cats and x pipe but is there any other way?

Please let me know
Thanks Vic

I've never worked with them. I went with LGM LT's.

The headers are designed to slip fit into an H pipe (supplied with the headers) right after the collector. The H pipe is welded to the front of the cats, if you keep them. I had a local shop install mine. The welding wasn't any big deal. If you didn't use the slip fit H pipe, you'd have to put on some other type of fitting. I suppose that you could expand regular pipe to slip over the collector like the H pipe does and then clamp it. That probably won't work with the OEM cats, but it might if you are fabricating the mid pipes. Hope that helps.

Those don't look like the OEM cats. What are you using for your mid section exhaust?

WOW Mark you are very observant.

I think the laws state something like you can not replace 'properly functioning OEM" cats. Or some thing close to that.

Well my OEM cats did not function too well when I ran over that rake with the tines pointed up and punctured the 'properly functioning' cats. So Dang had to replace those cats.

Two Inspections after the replacement and no problems. heck we even use the old sniffer just to see what the immisions would be and they were lowere then stock.

TPIS long tube ceramic headers, Random Tech cats, x-pipe and pipes and GHL Bullet Exhaust. Everything from the headers to the GHL is Random Tech.

The collectors are large diameter to fit that crappy H-pipe before the cats. The midsection is then supposed to fit into the smaller side. How did yours just slip fit? I do have the Random midsection but will have to be cut as they are the ones that bolt up to the stock manifolds.

TIA,
Dan

Sounds good! You've given Vic an example of exactly what he's looking for.

You need to look at AU N EGL's pictures to see what he's done. He's not using the H pipe.

I did look at the pics, that's why I didn't understand how it was done. The end of the header has a wide opening that the H-pipe necks down or reduces to 2 1/2". However I haven't actuallu measured EACH piece to see if it will fit inside rather than outside each connection, if I make myself clear.

My pieces just slid together and we put some double sided sticky exhuast tape on the male end to make sure it was snugg fit with no leaks.

We had to take the left header off and out when we put in the plumbing for the accu-sump. So not having it welded was a big help.

It will be a very very snugg fit, but that is what you want.
