Ever since it started getting cold, my coupe roof has started rattling. It sounds like the roof is not held tight enough to the car. I've tried white lithium grease in the metal receiving plates to no avail. I've heard that the roof tightness can be adjusted. How is this done exactly? I hate messing with stuff because I usually screw it up, so I am asking here first.
I also noticed a bad rattling in my 2004 C5 when the weather turned cooler in November. I thought it might have been in the dash or roof. It was really frustrating me and I was about to take it to the dealer when I read a thread here "Weights, measurements, ratios, strengths, etc." I would never have believed it but the rattle, which was loud, was actually in the driver side visor!!! Once I squeezed the mirror lid down and adjusted the position of the visor the rattling disappeared.
Just a thought, good luck.
Interior Rattles
The visors may rattle when they are put up, but if you flip them down, the rattle goes away. Squeezing the mirror lid down seems to take care of it. Try glueing a piece of felt or velcro between the mirror and lid to see if that fixes it.
I took apart the drivers side latch this afternoon. The latch seemed to rock about its bearings while the passenger side did not. I think that was the rattle. I haven't had a chance to take the car out for a test drive because it is snowing again! And I just washed and detailed it last night. And unfortunately, it is my daily driver.
