Default Stinger-R and Hood issues

I tried my best to get the stinger to fit into the original indentaion but to no avail. I just have a small part of it in there and its resulting in the cars hood bulging a bit. is it supposed to fit in there perfectly? It also seems that the air bridge is inside the coupler as far as it'll go so I don't know what the problem is. Its in the vette right now with the hood closed so should I leave it closed and let it compress hoping that it'll return to its normal state or....???

I let it idle for 15 minutes and drove around for 20+mins and I don't have any problems thus far.

right now my fingers are sore because of the damned sensor, and grommet that 97-2000 vettes have.

Yeah, pretty much. I've got one too and mine doesn't rub at all.
