Default Impressed with a ZO6

Man...you ZO6 guys have it made! I didn't realize how strong some of these cars are from the factory. Today a few friends and I decided to get together and go to the local speed shop. One of them has a 2003 ZO6 and I have a bolt-on FRC with 3.90's which puts down 341rwhp and 349rwtq. He and I raced from a 70 roll and I got the jump but he was at my side the whole time. He dynoed his car and it put down 354rwhp and 340 somehting rwtq. His car is bone stock. This is the crazy part...his air/fuel was at 10.8 to 11.0. I bet he could put down 360's just witha tune. No fair!

Yes, but some of us Z06 guys use the Z as a daily driver and don't care what it does from 0 - 60. It's a terrific car for going to the store for milk. Thanks for the compliments, but your car is just as special. It's a vette.

The Z is a terrific car for getting sideways in 2nd gear on your way to get milk.

That, too. Lots of reasons to own a Z.

I love ZO6's but I'm going to stick with what I have for now. Here's a picture of my car.

She's a beaut ! Ya gotta love the FRC lines
I almost bought a FRC. I held out and got a Z. On the flip side, I guess I missed a few years of enjoyment by holding out.

I have done the "sideways for milk" a few times and almost lost it with my Z....Think I learned my lesson (maybe not )

The Z is a ton of fun to drive....

Default Castrated my Z.......

Z06's are exceptional. I'm saddened because today I castrated my Z, but I do believe it is for the best. I purchased my 2004 Z with a Vortech SC and it was CRAZY fast. Fastest car I ever drove, much faster than my neighbor's 2003 911 Turbo Porsche. (My wonderful neighbor gave me his car for the weekend and told me to go out and drive it hard. I did, my wife and I put 400+- miles on it...smile on my face the whole time).

My Z was running 10lbs. boost with a 28 tooth pulley. Today I went back to Vortech's recommended 6.5 pound boost with a 34 tooth pully on the head. Still quick on the way to the store, but not scary fast.

I'm hoping this is a move for longevity. Everything I read says with stock bottom and CR, it's only a matter of time before too much boost is detrimental, like KABOOM.

I've still got the 28 tooth pulley if I change my mind......And it's still way faster than stock....

CNB, your FRC IS a beauty!!!!!

Z06 is just a modded FRC from the factory. Stick w/ your FRC and just mod it more Unless you're in it for the image and need that badge.

There's gotta be a different word than "castrated" when referring to a non-supercharged Z06.
