I haven't "lived" with the Hurst, but I have driven a car with it. My car has the Ripper and I really like it. It's real tight and very positive. The Hurst seems a little easier, but it is significant improvement over the stock shifter.
You really can't go wrong with either choice, and naturally I'm going to recommend the one I have, as will everyone else who responds.
Maybe you could find a couple of folks who have each and they'd let you try their car.
I don't think you can go wrong with either one of them. I bought the Hurst just because I had one back in the 60's. I had never heard of B&M before. But have since found they also have a great rep.
Love my B&M but feel is tight and responsive, just what the vette needed.
I have had both and now pushing around the HURST...
...I really dont think one is "better" than the other...
and although Hurst is purported to have the shortest throw reducing the reach of oem by 35%...
...You have to enjoy the one that feels good to you...
...and/or the one that gives you the most performance benefits whether you like the feel or not...
I've got the Hurst as well and love the short throws. My only complaint is that it takes significantly more shift effort (less leverage I guess). It's not an issue for me, but it makes driving the Vette very difficult for the wife.
