I've had the warm up message occur shortly after starting out after being parked for awhile but never as you described. So now I am curious about this also.

That's the same thing mine does. I park in a parking ramp at work and there are a lot of turns and braking involved in leaving the ramp and that seems to trigger the warming up message. If I start out and basically drive in a straight line, it doesn't do that.
mine does the same thing when i first start up and drive real slow, like 10 mph. the reason i drive @ 10 mph is because there is a limit because of little kids on bikes, but afer a couple of minutes it is ok.
Mine has done this several times. Not to worry. Sounds like you are driving it like it was meant to be driven . It does seem to happen more often when the car isn't warmed up (first few miles after starting).
However, mine has always cleared without having to restart the car. That part of it seems a bit out of sorts.
I had posted the same question (happened during autoX). The answer was to drive it in a straight line above 6mph for about 200 feet. That calibrates it to learn where "straight is". Seems to work.
