Default Something's leaking...

Alright all... I'm sure there is experience out there.

I have noticed on my garage floor a oil-type leak near the rear end of my '04 mn6 Coupe. It is nearly clear in color, and defninitely some type of lubricant/oil.

Anyone out there experience this same thing and can tell me the cause?

Appreciate any input.

Wolf

It is a very common problem. Before you take it in for repair do some research on here and find the part numbers for the new and improved seals and check with the dealer to make sure they are aware of the current repair parts being used so you can get the job done right the first time. You can probably even get a copy of the TSB which describes the proper procedure to fix this leak. Over the past few years the "fix" has changed and so have the repair parts.

I just had mine fixed a couple of months ago.

Leaking differential side seals is a common problem as others mentioned above. If you can get the Forum search feature to cooperate you should find numerous threads on this topic. Have it fixed under warranty. Good luck!

I can't believe that the axle seal leak is still a problem on the 04's. I guess GM dosen't improve anything. The same problems that I had with my 99, are still a problem with the 04's.

Yep, and I understand some like the erratic fuel gauge have even been carried over to the C6.

Rear diff is my first guess but thats normally light reddish in color or the sealant itself causes that color.

Rear diff leaks are common on the C5 and it doesnt matter which year or how new the car. This is because a 2004 C5 rear diff has the same design as earlier years so if earlier years are subject to leaking yours will be subject to leaking as well. I have had 3 leaks since I have owned my 99.

In the last few weeks I've developed the same problem with my 2001. Any idea on the cost of for this fix?

Thanks,
