Default Digital Climate Control

Can digital climate control be retrofitted to a 1998 C5 equipped with the standard climate control?

it's possible but requires a bunch.

it's one of the harder mods to do.

Could you yes, would you want too?
First, you would need a new HVAC module, and that would require pulling out the entire I/P and possibly the cross-member brace. Then you would have to install sensors for inside temp and outside temp sensors.
The PCM would have to be reprogrammed since it communicates with the HVAC control head, and this might not be possible; it might require a new PCM.
Then due to the new HVAC control head being added into the class 2 serial data link that links all the computers in the car to allow cross communications between the computers. This might mean the BCM will have to be reprogrammed or replaced.
In addition, new solenoids would be required, and these are usually separate from the HVAC module, and this addition of the new solenoids would required new vacuum lines and routing.
Besides, the Auto air on the car is not that great. I'm usually playing with the temp controls all the time.

Damn, after that explanation, sounds like it may be difficult for a professional.
