Unfortunately got a rock kicked up on the interstate and hit the windshield. The crack is up to 6 inches long. Has anyone replaced their Z06 windshield? How much to replace?
I thought I read a standard C5 windshield is a lot cheaper. Any info?

Do not replace your Z06 windshield with a C5 windshield, ulness you don't care about weight. One of the ways the Z06 shaved weight was to put a lighter windshield in.

Thanks in advance!
Make CERTAIN that you Insurance Company and the Glass Shop understand that it is a Z 06. A friend of mine had to have his replaced and the Glass Shop was just going to install a regular windshield. They claimed that they didn't know the difference. The Z06 windshield is thinner, thus lighter.
Joe, as others have suggested, run it through your insurance company(unlesss you're dying to pay for it). Its a comp loss...shouldn't count against you unless its some obscure company. Most companies(particularly State Farm) arrange for glass claims to be handled through one of the local glass shops, most of which come out to you to fix it. They will use the same glass the dealers would install, and in most cases the dealers have the independent glass shops come to them if you leave the car at the dealer for replacement anyway. Something else I found out...as windshields age and become pitted from all the crap hitting them over time and interfeering with visibility that in itself is a comp claim...you don't need a huge crack or bullseye to get it replaced under your policy! Just my .2cents.

It's worth noting that the Z06 windshield has the same part number as a HUD-capable C5 convertible windshield.
So if you can find a replacement for a 2001+ convertible with HUD, then it's the same as a Z06 windshield (including lighter weight).
The coupe is a different part because it has the antenna embedded in the glass. The convertible doesn't, and GM will reuse parts wherever they can...

I believe there's a special coating for the HUD's reflection as well. RDD
