Other than covers one can buy (and do they work?), anyone have solutions for the water in the mirror housings? Thinking of drilling a hole in housing bottoms.. thoughts and suggestions? Washed the vette yesterday and got the 80mph shower.........
Don't you realize that's an integral part of the wash process??? Now, just keep the microfiber cloths and spray detailer handy so that at the end of the 80mph shower you can spray, wipe, buff, and polish.
Oh, and don't forget the taillight and rear license plate surround tears too, as well as your BSM's, if you have 'em.

Same deal years ago on the '89... difference is at least you can get paper towels wedged into the tailights to absorb... sounds like the blower is the best idea although I have heard of people drilling bottom holes in the housing, that idea does not appeal to me

The covers do work. I use my compressor and go on a seek and destroy mission looking for water. The side marker lights, door handles and the creases where the bumpers and the body panels come together are additional collection points to watch for.
I drilled a small hole in the rear fasia where the tail lights sit. No more water there.
I thought about doing the same thing on the mirrors! I have a scrap mirror in the garage. I just might do some expiermenting with it!!
Will keep you posted!
I do the mirror tilt method of water removal now but some have reported that the spring inside has a tendancy to BREAK! :eek
"Press 'n Seal" works well to cover the mirrors when washing the car. The corvette mirror seals run $29 each...which would but many rolls of press 'n Seal.
