Default Low Profile Jack

Where is a good place to get a low profile floor jack for a C5. I went to change the wheels today and found that the jack is too tall. I need something that is about 3" collapsed. Thanks.

You need a low-profile racing jack. Sears carries a good model. Lots of places carry the same import models. Differing opinions on the forum on the reliability of these. One thing: if you use ANY type of hydrolic jack to raise the car and you will be working UNDER the car, put some jackstands under for safety.

Don't have one, but I've seen a lot of posts in the past about members who have bought a low profile from Harbor Freight for a pretty good price.

I bought a low profile, aluminum racing jack from Harbor Freight several months ago. Plenty of clearance under the car, works great!

I think the one listed above from Sears is a little cheaper if you have the "Craftsman Club" card. I hope to swing by and get one before they go off sale.

I bought one a few weeks ago at walmart for a whopping $37 per a post here on the forum.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...t=walmart+jack

It's a light weight aluminum one that has worked great for me so far. I still have my sears 3 ton jack but the little walmart job is great to get your C5 on stands. and it's the lowest I have seen at 3.25" min height

A great jack at a GREAT price!

I got a cheap one at Pep Boys. I've used it more already on my C5, than I ever used any jack ever before.

Agree to use jackstands though.

You may need to build a small wood ramp to get it up a couple inches.

I used a single 2 x 6 x 6, cut it down to two staggered layers, then covered with some scrap indoor-outdoor carpet. Put some rubber back carpet on the bottom, with the carpet side against the board, and rubber side down and it becomes a no-slip ramp if using on fairly smooth concrete garage floor.

I got a 1.5 ton, Craftsman from Sears. Love it ... similar to E-T's. Just more red.

I've got a Sears Craftsman aluminum jack that works fine for me. Minimum height is about 3.5".
