I just bought a float charger from a Harbor Freigt store. The problem is that the only one they had left didn't have any packaging or instructions. I connected it to my vette today and there's a red LED on the charger that came on when I plugged it in and has stayed on since. Is this the normal state and color or will it go off if the battery is at full charge? Anyone have the instruction sheet from this model?
It was a great deal...normal price $16.99 I got it for $5.99!

Give it some time, it may take overnight to fully recharge. Red light shows that it's charging and green will indicate a full charge. Then just leave BT until spring.
Got mine at Autozone, yellow is charging and green is charged. When red light is on it means trouble. Have you only got two lights on yours.
Many of these units from various manufacturers have only one indicator light as mine has. When unit is charging it shows red, when battery is charged, and it goes into float, the indicator light changes to green.
Don't scare the guy and tell him he has a problem. yours indicates differently.
It's been about 36 hours now and the light is still red. I shouldn't have anything drawing power other than the usual electronics that drain the battery if not started. As I said it's from Harbor Freight and had no instructions so I don't know if the red light will change to green or not. There is only one light on the module.
This is the one I got... thanks for the help so far
How much charge did you originally have in your battery. It's a battery tender, not a battery charger. I have been told that you should have at least enough charge to start the engine when you hook up the battery tender then it keeps the battery topped off. I'm no expert, just what I've been told. Good luck

I believe I have this same exact one. I only have one light and it is always red when hooked up properly. That just means it's on and working. I have had mine for months now and it works great. Don't freak out, I think you are good to go.
Man these chargers are getting cheap. I hope they are as effective as the more expensive ones. Well maybe not I bought mine for $50 but it's doing it's job and I am satisfied. Good luck with yours. I may get one since they are that inexpensive.
I agree with ZBrink. It's a float charger and the red light means it's working and hooked up correctly. I have the same H.F. charger that I use on my truck since I ride my Harley most of the year here in Florida. I've had it hooked up for a couple weeks sometimes and the red light stays on. It never over charges. I also got an OEM float charger with Jennifer (my 2013 GS coupe).
I would be a little scared of using one of those cheap chargers on my Corvette. There have been some reports of float chargers catching on fire and people losing their cars and or garage. I buy only the best ones and still had one overheat. Not worth taking the chance to save a few bucks.
got the same one from harbor freight just one red light means its on and working, 3rd year with it no problems, just bought a 20 dollar one from wallmart for my H2 and it has the green when charged light....I hate winter
