I installed mine a few weeks ago. Just got a chance to take it out yesterday. I can't believe the improvement. You won't be sorry. i bought it from Shawn at LAPD a forum member. He beat the lowest price I found. My best mod.
But thank god for this forum, it was just a screw that got loose. So yes, definitely do not install the adjuster / stop screws.
My advise is to install the stop screws, but do it correctly. Yes the trans has internal stops but, with lots of hard shifting you can still damage the internal stops. Since the Hurst shifter is a performance shifter that is why Hurst included stops, they figured you will be doing a lot of hard shifts.
Love mine. Had some noise with stock ****. Installed Flameball. Pretty much quiet now. Have a vert and top usually down, so a little noise is lost on me. Don't think you could go wrong with Hurst or B&M.
That's the first I've heard of someone not liking their Hurst. They are great and it's probably the best mod for the buck. Considering it gets the most use.
love mine. before i bought it i read that some CF members found the default springs to be a little stiff at first but soften up over time, and that's exact what i found to be true. or maybe my arm got stronger from shifting....? either case it's perfect now, nice short precise bolt-action shifting.
