5 mpg!
Holy cow! I reads 5 mpg in 1st gear, 8mpg in 2nd gear in stop and go traffic. You guys get these numbers too? No wonder I'm filling her up once a week.

If you don't depress the velocity module to it's furthest range, your mileage will drastically improve.
Besides, since when is happiness about mileage concerns?

That sounds like the gas mileage from the 1960's.

I love watching the MPG when I drive up to Roebling for a track event. Reset it leaving the house, average is something like 24-ish, reset before a 30 minute session, average is like 2.2

I remember once flooring my wife's Suburban and seeing the instant MPG hit 1! In the Vette I've seen 3-4 mpg at times but it still averages out to 20+ every tank.

The cars just don't get great mileage if it is heavy stop and go traffic. But, that's a small price to pay for the pleasure.

If you are going to drive around in first and second gear, you are going to get very poor mileage.. 5th and sixth gears are over drive gears.
keeping the car in the 3000 to 4000 rpm range might feel good, but it eats fuel at four times the rate of normal gear selection.

I'm up to almost 15mpg since i've been taking it easy in the winter. I should drop down to a more fun 12-13mpg again this summer.

I usually get about 5.4 mpg over a 40 minute SCCA race... and most tracks are 3rd-5th gear! Making it worse, I use 104 octane unleaded race fuel which costs about $4.75 a gallon. Ouch!

I average 16.8 MPG total. Never reset the MPG indicator in heavy traffic though...

If I was concerned about gas mileage, I would have bought a Ford Focus
