That's a high falootin' name for it, but that's what they call it in the manual. Anyway--I bought my '97 used and never got it and called Gere's Kar Shop and Gene said it would be best if I had the part No. Looked thru threads etc. thinking I might stumble on the number and in the process of reading all I could in the various threads it seemed to me that those of you who have them have difficulties and annoyances with them. Sooooo I gotta' wonder if its worth getting one! I'd really appreciate some advice.
I've had nothing but trouble with my remotes (97 coupe). I even went to the dealer and bought a new one (way over priced), and now it's doing crazy things. My opinion is they are more trouble than they're worth. Just using the key works fine. You can buy them for less money by going through "GMpartsdirect.com" as long as you know the part number, or watch for them on Ebay, they pop up on there all the time. Then just check your owners manual for instructions on how to program them. (easy). Good luck!!

The possiblity exists that the BCM (body control module) is faulty - I'd be curious if there are any error codes on the DIC relative to the module. Here's a list of error codes, and instructions on how to extract the codes - YAAAA! You get to play with your DIC! (Sorry, I can't help myself..... )

Good luck getting the remote entry for your car. In had a few problems with my fob for the '99 I had until I just kept the passive slide in the off position. The fob on my '00, which did away with the passive function, has given me no problems.
On the '99, I did have some problems with the receiver in the car and once the dealer replaced that, it worked well.
