its usually about 4 bucks. its kinda like cotton or something when you open the can. you seriously only need a tiny bit. maybe the size of a quarter. this stuff works wonders. rub it on, and it leaves a little residue. let it sit for a few minuted and it will haze up like when you wax your car. then take a clean cloth and buff it. it will SHINE!!! it says its safe for all metals also.

Thanks,
Roy
Here is a link to the flitz site: -
http://flitz.com/
I see ads for it on TV -
I use NevR-Dul or simichrome paste.

I wondered about that, I guess I'll get something to clean the grundge and not expect much in the way of appearance.
Thanks to all for the suggestions.

The tips are not titanium and can be polished to a nice shine.

Question: Are the tips clear coated? What are they made of? Will power buffing take care of it. First I would use a 1000 grit wet paper.
Thanks

If your asking me-I don't know.
Mine look a little grundgie and I want to clean them up with the proper material so I don't screw them up.

The tips on the stock Z06 setup are polished stainless - use any chrome polish you want-
I would not use sandpaper.
BTW- check out the "ON TV" section at the Flitz site I posted above - you can get a buffing ball (probably useless for the tips of exhaust due to the close proximty to the fascia) and some flitz - they also have some small sample packs for $6, with a $10 coupon for your next purchase.

as what others have said, the rest of the assembly is oxidized titanium (which has the appearance of a duller finish), with the added benefit of being unbelievably weather & corrosion-resistant. corrosion is non-existant, basically. a blast of windex, 409 or simple green will clean them up just fine. i looked into having everything flash coated and/or polished, and discovered what a pain it would be. no thanks....
the tips will shine beautifully with any good polish and elbow grease. as others have mentioned, simichrome, mother's polish, never-dull, flitz, etc all work good. it's really just a personal preference. as for myself, i use either of the 1st two (mother's or simichrome paste polish). do not use any sandpaper, even 1k grit. way too harsh! just soap & water to clean, then use the polish.
best tip is to shine them just like you would a good pair of shoes. rub the paste with some good elbow grease on very CLEAN tips (can't be any dirt or grime on there), then wrap a real soft cotton cloth around each tip and pull back & forth quickly, just like you would shine a shoe. it works wonders!

It's amazing. It cleans all the carbon and water vapor spots from the inside of the tips as well as getting all the road crap off the outside of the pipes/tips.
shines up reall nice to.
It is definitely safe. I use it to clean/polish my billet exhaust plate as well....

Good tips - like polishing a shoe - I had never thought about it that way, but that's what I do!
I thought the tips were stainless - they are definitely spot welded in place and not just a plating - I went into the archives...

These pics show the exhuast coming off of a 2002 Z06, and clearly show the spot welds around the edge of the polished tip.
