I was under the impression that the Z06 H Pipe does not have pre cats while the LS1 (from 2001 on) does. Well, tonight I went to pick up a Z06 H pipe and it had pre cats. The owner of the car had already sold me the catback Ti system so I naturally assumed that the H pipe would not have pre cats. I didn't take the H pipe as I wanted to investigate this further. Did the first year Z06 have the same H pipe as the 2001 LS1's? I know the earlier C5's didn't have pre cats on them.

Thanks,
ahhh that's right .. that's where some of the increase in power came from.
Thanks guys for the replies. I don't think it would be worth my while to buy an '02 & up Z06 H pipe. I'd probably do better to install an X pipe with the Ti's. Eventually I'd like to install headers but then that involves a PCM edit...........and then it goes on and on.
From what I've seen, there is no welding involved although you could if you wanted to. You have to cut off a portion of the existing H-Pipe behind the cats and then the X pipe fits over the remaining pipes. Clamps are provided to clamp the two sections together. The connector tube in the H pipe is actually much smaller inside than it looks like from the outside. The car sounds better with an X pipe and will even idle better. I think this is the root I'm going to take and leave my original cat system on rather than get an 02 up system.

i know it'll be next on my list especially since i've got straights now and the popping will probably be pretty bad.
