Thanks for the responses, reading some of the same stories kind of makes me wonder how many of us got our vettes due to someone giving us a ride or whatever???
I know I'm sure glad when I got my first shot at driving a vette.

Welcome !
In 1971 a buddy of mine had a sweet 67, all it took was one ride.
Back then vettes were not that easy to find, after a short search I found a 64 vert in Atlanta.
Vette man for life !
Enjoy the ride

I had a friend who had a 78' L82 4spd and I was interested in buying a vette and he let me take his for a test drive. After that I've been hooked ever since.
I don't think anyone could forget their first time the most thrilling thing was the first time you got in it from first thur third!!I was like wow welcome!

Another Welcome!! To the greatest forum on the net. The home of many people like yourself. We hope you enjoy your car and this forum as much as we here do. Congrats!!!
Cool story....My husband had never driven a Vette of any type. Last year I decided it was time to buy one and just wnet ahead looking until I found the 'the right car' and before you know it, were on the road to go buy it. All through this process he is just going along with it, letting me have my way. He likes BIG Jeeps and Trucks, so this is no pleasure to him......Guess what happened....He turned into a C5 Vette fanatic overnight and now he applauds my pushing to get this car. We BOTH love it!
Congradulations on your C5......I was driving a Lotus Europa at your age, but that was almost 30 years ago!

Man, I wish I was around back in the 60's to see those vettes coming out for the first time.....
The oldest vette I've actually driven was a sky blue 1974 automatic, with Krager rims. The oldest, and my personal favorite year, I've ever road in was a red on red 62 topless. VERY SWEET!! those oldtimers with the 327's still had a little punch in them.
