First Corvette I Ever Drove!!!....

(to make a long story short)
One night, hanging out with a good friend, who's uncle owned a 92 hot red 6-speed coupe, LT1, we went over his house and he let me check out his vette. He took me for a test drive, (I was in awe, had a smile on my face for a week, such power in that LT1) and on the way back from the screeming test drive, he pulled over and asked if I wanted to take it the rest of the way........
Honestly, I was scared to death, but went for it, I had to give it a little juice out of first or else I'd have to skip into 4th gear, so I stepped on it just a bit, it shoved me into the back of the seat instantly, I put it in second, then next thing you know I'm pushing 70mph!!! What a rush, I stepped it down a bit since the speed was 45. When it was all said and done, we pulled it into his garage and parked it.....
That smile didn't leave my face for over a week, I was in love. My dream had come true, I finally got to drive a vette..... I knew this car was meant for me.
I'm now 26 years old, (still a youngster) but had some money saved up and when my car died, saw the opportunity, put in some prayers and next thing you know, I'M OWNING MY OWN C5!! Gotta 02 Black Beauty with Chrome rims and low miles and loving every minute of it.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank all the corvette owners out there..... THANK YOU. (ecspecially those who open up there vettes to let others enjoy there passion)..... made a difference to me.
Corvettes are the greatest.

Sweet video!!

while he worked on it or washed it.One day, he said - "let's go for a ride!" I had never even ridden a Vette before....OMG what a rush!
After about 15 minutes, he pulled over, put it in neutral, and said "Wanna drive it?"
We switched seats, and I put it in 1st at took off real easy. He said - "I've seen you drive, and you don't drive like this! Give it some gas!"
All I can say is WOW!
That **** took off like a cat with it's tail on fire! I knew then that I had to get me one of these!Flash forward 32 years, and I finally did! Best thing I ever did!
Thanks for sharing your story!

Sounds like the same story. What a coincodence, we both have the same story, we both ended up with Black Vettes with aftermarket Chrome rims and red callipers??? what are the odds. ha

and congratulations on the new ride I see you are local (DFW). If you have the chance, or desire, the Lone Star Corvette Club in this area is the largest in the US (over 1000 members, approx 1500 Vettes!).
We do 'racing' road trips, etc. etc. etc.
They can be contacted at:

I waited so many years!! What a great car!!
As also a surfer there is a saying: "Only a surfer knows the feeling." I think that also applies to Corvette ownership.
We are all probably great Corvette salesmen w/o eventhinking about it.
