I have a 2004 CE vert, and I'm thinking about upgrading the tires, now with about 12,000 miles. In thinking about non-run flats, and I keep reading about the "ZO6" patch kit.
Does the C5 ZO6 have run flats, or not? If not, should the stock tires fit on a vert? Are they quieter that the stock EMT's?
If your ZO6's have EMT's stock, why the patch kit?
The patch kit really is a joke that is expensive to replace should you use the goop included in it. Most Z06 owners have added tire air pressure sensors and thus use plug kits (instead of the goop). with a very light small jack, because using the goop would ruin the sensors. I guess the only thing worth anything in the patch kit, is the air compressor, but you can get the same thing for much cheaper than GM charges.
Non runflats are much better handling tires in general over run flat tires. Although I hear the latest generation of run flats for the C6 are pretty good. Good enough to be included on the C6 Z06.
Why ask Why,
Thanks. Do you know if there is any difference in ride/noise/handling between the GY EMT's and non-EMT's?

Hi hhntr111 -
The Z06 does not have runflats - as noted above.
The car comes equipped with a small air-compressor and a bottle of tire-sealant in a black plastic kit secured in the right rear package compartment.
I have accessorized the tire kit with a plugging tool and some tire plugs.
I recently put the F1 Supercar tires and wheels from my Z06 onto our 99 coupe. The coupe came with the EMT's and wagon wheels.
The F1s are only slightly quieter, but the F1's ride much smoother. A big improvement over the runflats.
Before I got the Z, I had a '99 Black coupe that I switched out the run-flats on. Besides much improved handling, it was a little quieter and smoother, as noted above. I bought a compression and patch kit.

the lingerfelter c6 with 700+hp comes with michelin ps2's if that's any indication
Thanks, all. Based on this info, I think I'll focus on the best set of non-run flats and carry a kit.
I live in Connecticut and use my Vette as a daily driver in the summer and for summer road trips. Sadly, winter finds my toy in the garage, except for the occasional nice day. I don't race or drag, but I do like to drive fast on winding roads.
What would be some good choices given my driving profile? Firestones, PS2's, Nitto's?

PS-2. Great traction and good in the wet. Like Lingerfelter, Mallett also changes out the tires with Pilot Sports

I went with the Firestone Run Flats on my 97. They are great tires in the dry and fantastic in the rain. Much quieter and softer riding. However, I understand they can't be driven as far as the EMTs when they lose their pressure.

Hi hhntr111 -
For non-runflats...
The Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercars are a great choice for the kind of driving most people do IMO.
I have Pirelli Pzero Rosso Asimmetrico/Direzionale on my Z - They are smooth riding and fairly quiet, but they are not as good from a standing start, and seem less confident in wet conditions. They look the best IMO.
A good friend of mine who posts here bought Kumho's and he loves them. I rode in his car and it seemed very smooth and was not as loud as the Supercars.
