It's cool that the manager is willing to do what it takes to fix the problem. My insurance includes broken glass coverage (waves my deductable) so I would pop it with a hammer and get it replaced. Is that legal? Oh well.
That my friend is a gray one. Is it insurance fraud? No, the window is broken, and it is not illegal to damage your car. However, the ins. co. most likely wont cover it. It is illegal to torch your car, even if you dont claim it. Strange indeed.
Never used a car wash. It's better by hand and I kow that I can get all of the joggles and voids.
Try white vinegar with regular news print.
Something about the Soy ink and the vinegar does great.
If the vinegar and water does not do the trick then try adding a little ammonia to the mix, just dont spill any on the paint or you will find your self waxing your a** off again.
If that doesn't do it , the glass is chemically etched and will have to be replaced.
Consider yourself lucky. A friend took her Vette to a car wash and, while she was sitting having a cup of coffee, she heard a terrible noise. When she went out she found that her car had run over a manhole cover which flipped up and caught her rocker panel just behind the front wheel and ripped it all the way back to the rear wheel. Fortunately, they stopped the line before it did damage to the rear suspension.
Will try these application but see what White Glove is willing to do. ...afterall they caused the problem.
Ewww not Safe-T-Lite, they replaced a windshield on my Wrangler and I had to get it replaced twice because of the cheap glass they tried to pass off on me.
Never go to a car wash. The only time I go to a car wash is in the winter time, and then I go to the do it yourself deal, and I just rinse the dirt off.

In the winter I use 7 mil. wetsuit gloves...works great.
Another product you might try is some stuff that I got at a glass shop. They do all kinds of glass including automotive. It's called " A-MAZ ", it comes in a small tub like paste wax. It does seem to have a light abrasive in it, but boy does it ever work good! Good Luck.
Check with the folks over in the Car Care Products section of the Forum and see what suggestions they may have to offer. Several knowlegable people hang out there. Also, here's a note of caution on using ammonia. Never use it on after-market window tints. It can bubble and seriously damage some of these. Good luck with the fix.
Something that GM has recommended for years on windshields is Bon Ami. It works very well.
Try it with a wet sponge, scrub, then take it off with a dry towel.
You might want to give it a shot.
there is a product called "bon ami" that may take the stains off. it is a bar or can of powder that is a slight abrasive, you wet it and rub it on and then after it is dry rub off. good luck
Bon Ami is recommended by GM for glass windows. It comes in a can, similar to Comet but not even the same...don't substitute Bon Ami. Bon Ami is also good at removing light glass scratches, as well as cleaning around the kitchen & bath.

Might give a little Bon Ami a try. Use to be recommended for the C4 windshield...haven't checked the C5 owners manual to see if they are still suggested. A clay bar may also pull the contaminate off.
