The only proper repair is an internal patch as stated in several posts. The patch is known as a "mushroom plug". It is applied to the inside of the tire after it is inspected for damage to carcass. The stem of the "mushroom fills the void from the object and the patch is vulcanized to the inside. I'm sure this is what Goodyera is using. Seriously I know many people insert an external plug. Do not repair it that way, it can, and has worked it's way out.
I live in Central Florida, and since the 3 Hurricanes of last year, we have LOADS of debris and, more specifically, roofing nails etc. on the roads. Trucks hauling off stuff...they drop it all over the place.
I've picked up FIVE nails in my tires in less than 5 months. Honestly, I was wondering if the GY Run Flats are somehow more susceptible to getting a nail. Anyone have an idea why? I don't know of any one else in my neighborhood or who drives where I do who has experienced the same sort of problem.
I've had them plugged and no problems. I do worry about one tire which has had 2 nails. Time will tell.
The tire place I go to is very experienced and I feel secure using them.
