I am losing about 6psi a week out of my passenger side rear tire and I need to get it fixed. Has anyone had a repair done on a runflat tire before? Anything I should look out for?
I called the authorized Goodyear dealer here in town and they said they have "done many Vettes and they know what they are doing".
I only have 4000 miles on the car so I don't want to have to replace a set of tires already.
I had a nail go right through my rear wheel a week before I was due to head to the Pocono Superspeedway to do some laps around the track. Took it to the dealership, they patched it up and they told me that although it probably no longer is rated at 200 miles per hour flat, I'd have no problems doing high speed runs or road course events. Haven't had any problems with that tire since and its been over a year now.
I went through a flat phase a while back, had mine repaired 3 times for 3 different reasons (a nail, a screw and a flat piece of metal!), drag raced on them as well as auto x, never had an issue with the repairs!
I would be scared more of the people scuffing my chromies than them breaking my sensors and losing my 200 mph Z-tire rating.
Tire people (well most of them) know what they are doing. It's how they do it that scares me. They just dont care how they do it as long as the job is done.
Yep, they pulled a nail out of the tire, part of living in Vegas with all the construction here in town is picking up unwanted hitchikers in the tires once in a while.
Cost me $31.50 to get it fixed, better than the other Goodyear dealer I called that wanted $80 to do the repair. OUCH!!!!
If your only loosing a few pounds it might not be the tire. It could be the valve or the way the tire is beaded onto the rim. Take it in and have it checked out. I had a flat on one of mine and ended up repairing it myself because nobody around me was certified to work on runflats. So count yourself lucky you have someone in your area that is able to work on the runflats. Keep us posted as to what exactly is causing the leak. Good luck with it.
