Default For those cosidering the rearview mirror LED mod...

Thanks to EFI-1, I installed some LED's in my rearview mirror. I was undecided on color choice, white vs. blue, so I did a combo of both (to see which I liked)... I ended up with all white LED's...

Here is a shot of the mirror with one side all white and the other with 4 white LED's and 2 blue LED's.

Here's a shot of the LED's on the right; 4 white and 2 blue:

Here's all of the LED's done in white:

I felt the all white configuration was the best, the blue looked cool but sucked for lighting. Hope this help anyone trying to decide on color choice...

That's a great comparison on the differences between the two different configurations. I have a black interior so the blue might not be as obvious, but it certainly makes you think.

The more of these LED mods I see, the more I like. I still don't think I'm ready to tackle doing it myself, but like I say, it really looks good.

That does look great. I hardly ever drive the car at night so I can't even remember what the originals look like. But when I get it out I will be sure to check it out. What is the reason for changing leds for other leds? What colors are in there to begin with?

I'm so intimidated by the soldering part...never soldered anything in my life. I have 2 Computer Engineering roommates and an Electrical Engineering ex-girlfriend - they make me wish I had chosen a major with electronics so I could mod my Vette easy

How hard is it to solder something if you have NEVER done it before?

i just started soldering pcboards a week or two ago for my car pc interface. It's pretty simple as long as you have the right tools. (fine tip soldering iron, resin core solder and possibly a desoldering iron if you have to remove solder) just heat up the iron then place it on the top of the lead, put the solder below it touching the lead but not the iron. when the lead is hot enough it'll melt the solder and the resin core will allow the solder to flow into the hole.

Not really difficullt. Get the right tools (from you roomies) and practice a little / a lot on some scrap stuff. Get to know the soldering iron (how fast it heats up, etc.). You should be able to do it.
