Any tricks to releasing the tension on the idler pulley? I understand you have to release it to install the chrome alternator and idler pulley covers. I'm from the old days when there was a 3/8 or 1/2 slot for a ratchet and simply push the pulley over, don't see a slot on the new ones.
Thanks

I'm not sure if I can help you but I just put on a new belt and I found it was easier for me just by pulling the tensioner up with my hand to release the tension. I tried the rachet thing but I couldn't get it to work. I have ATI supercharger next to the tensioner so space was very limited. For stock, I think it would be a little easier.

Simply use a ratchet/socket or long handle wrench on the tensioner mounting bolt and turn it in a clockwise postion to release tension on the belt.

Yeah, you're suppose to use the center bolt on the tensioner itself. I think it's a 15mm bolt. Take a ratchet and twist on that puppy, it'll take the tension off the belt.
