I'm just curious if any of you have installed a GPS Moving Map in your C5's? If so, what system did you go with and how do you like? Please post any photos you might have of the installation.
Thanks,
Richard
I don't have this system but it is the one I want. I think this type of setup blends very well and could be confused as an OEM system. Plus because it doesn't pop up, it doesn't block the vent and you woudn't have to move the dash components.
I went with the Pioneer AVIC N1 (The N2 comes out in Spring).
I like it a lot and the nav accuracy is good. The remote is a waste of space and I wouldn't recommend that option. Some members have mounted the unit in place of the HVAC which means that the screen doesn't block the vents. I like the screen in its present position though.
I have the Clarion Joyride in mine.
Good system.
Uses a DVD for the maps, you can drive anywhere in North America and not have to change a map disk. It also talks to you telling you when to turn and accepts voice commands. Very happy with it!

I am going with this unit too. It gets installed on the 26th. Back in the states on the night of the 25th. The mods start on the 26th.

I didn't like the remote control mounted on the steering wheel. Too intrusive and it looked bad.
I mounted it on a flexible shaft (a flashlight) with a bracket that slides under the side of the console. It folds down out of the way when not in use or I can take it out completely.
That said, the remote is almsot useless as the voice recognition function is poor.

I use the Roadmate 700, can move from car to car, voice controled & it takes you to the front door.
I agree ! I have one too, love it ! Actually use it in other cars more, but can't be beat. Make sure to upgrade the software (for free) to get map icons for gas stations, restaurants, etc. You then press an icon and it gives you directions. I have found some good restaurants that way.

I just had the Kenwood 915 head unit (Nav/DVD/TV) installed with the 4100 Navigation, 6 disc changer, Kenwood Music Keg, Zapco 650 Watt/6 Channel Amp, Memphis 5.25 Coaxials and Dynomated. Already had a JL Audio W7 12" Sub. I will post pics later today. I have had the Kenwood system in my 2002 Escalade for 6 months now and I can tell you from personal experiance that it is an incredibly AWESOME system.
This is good. But what brand name is it? I like the fact that it looks like it belongs.
It's the Eclipse AVN 2454. I got this picture off another forum. I think this unit looks OEM. I understand it is a tight fit that requires some slight trimming of the bezel to get the screen to fit right. The opening is only a 1.5x DIN while the unit is a 2x DIN.
I chose the Cobra Nav-1 It has tha entire united states and Canada and nothing to load and you just plug it in to your cigarette lighter and take it in any car you want

I have a pioneer AVIC-N1 also. I switched the climate controls and the head unit so that the center vent is not blocked. I installed this myself about two months ago and it has performed really well. I am a police officer and the map program (No GPS) we have in the patrol cars for our town is less accurate than the map software provided by pioneer.
