I installed the mud flaps from Eckler's on my 02. They are a no drill design using screws already in the wheel wells and long hose clamps around the mufflers. I have been very happy with them. They will save you from stone chips on long trips. They also stop lots of grease and road tar from getting on the quarter panels. You may also want to get mirror covers for long road trips.
I have these same flaps and like them very much and saves on LOTS of rock chips. I did not install the rear flaps because I looked at several higher milage C5s and really didnt see any chips to the rear body work. They also came with some type of bracket to install the fronts but I left that off also and just screwed into the factory screw holes. I also put little clear bumper pads between the paint and the flap contact points. I also drilled into the far inside lower fender well plastic and added a screw through the flap to the fender to keep it from flapping inside the well. If you want pics of the install just e mail me. Only get the Ecklers ones the MidAmerica ones suck. IllinoisCorvette@aol.com
I have Eckler's black contour splash guards front and rear on my daily driver...they do their job...and you have to look very closely to see them. Being black they blend in to the wheel well and seem to disappear. Can you spot them...

I could barely see the flaps on your car. Then again...as I'd said before, I think they're less "obvious" on a color such as yours. Mine's M/Y and I think they'd be more noticeable.
By the way...you have a really beautiful car. Nice.

Thanks...I agree with you about installing the guards on just the front. What "little clear bumper pads" did you install?

I've got the same setup on mine. Sure do protect the sides of the car. The only problem I have found is that the rear ones tended to rub the paint on the edge of the wheel well. Solved that problem by putting a piece of thin household weatherstrip on the back side of the mud flap to keep the hard plastic away from the painted surfaces. Works like a charm and not noticable. I'd recommend them for some added protection.
I had 3m paint protectant film put on behind all 4 wheels and in front of
the rear wheels. I'm really happy with it, does a great job and the scuffs
on the film wash off;
I think mud flaps are but that is just my opinion.I bought some (color matched) for my car but could never stand to drill into my car or install them or the looks of them afterwards.I would think about 3M

I think I'll go with the Cleartastic....still iffy on whether to do the splash guards.
Thanks to everyone for your input.
He's got the 3M material, NOT Cleartastic. Big $$ diff between the two. I put the Cleartastic on mine as soon as I bought it. After about 1000 miles I switched to 3M. I did the same as Vetteran but also did the painted inner lips of the wheelwells. I live on a dirt/gravel road and love the stuff. I will put it on any new car that I buy.
I didn't have good luck with Cleartastic at all. To many pieces and once lightly soiled they tend to not want to stick. Some of mine ended up blowing off the car.
I have just plain black mud flaps on my MY vert. Without a contour, they are hardly noticable. Drilled sheet metal type screws into the fender liner to mount front and rear Barely see the hole if removed). Barely noticable from the side, and lined up to match tire profile from rear. Saves lower panels from stones and trash.
I use "Thermoflex Splash Guards by G-P Manufacturing - Chicago for mini vans & mini trucks" to get something with some width. Usually find them at an independent auto parts store. Very inexpensive (about12.00 a set) and durable. I use them on my daily driver CTS and other past cars which survive auto washes. They hang low enough to scrape, but are flexible to take it.

Yep...sorry...I meant 3M, not Cleartastic.
I'll be in Colorado and many of the roads I'll be driving on are gravel, so I have some major concerns. I'm glad to read of the success stories from both the 3M stuff and those who've gone the 'guard' route. Thanks.
