I'm going to take a lonnggg road trip this summer, and I'm worried about nicks and dings. Gonna get a good quality nose bra...but...
Has anyone installed Splash Guards ...front and/or rear...on their Vette? Do they look ok, or tacky? I've seen them in the same body color, etc. and they don't look too obnoxious....I guess.
If anyone has installed these and has pix....please post. Also, if anyone has an opinion.... .... let me know. Thanks.
I installed the mud flaps from Eckler's on my 02. They are a no drill design using screws already in the wheel wells and long hose clamps around the mufflers. I have been very happy with them. They will save you from stone chips on long trips. They also stop lots of grease and road tar from getting on the quarter panels. You may also want to get mirror covers for long road trips.

While I don't like the idea of either one, what about cleartastic?
Steve...I thought about the Cleartastic option too. I think they sell it in various configurations so I could just get the 'behind the wheel' bits.
If you've ever driven cross country, you will know what I'm talking about with crap that gets flicked up from the wheels. Like newly laid road tar, etc. What a mess!!
I have them on my 98, were on when I bought it. I like them. They do keep the sides cleaner. The only thing I do not like is that they are held on with screws. I like them.
Well I'll tell you what I did last summer for my 5000 mile trip to Bowling Green and back.
I wax like crazy before hand of coarse. Then found some transparent duct tape at Home Depot. I put it behind the wheels right down the whole rocker panel, and it worked great. It did get damaged and all I did was put more on. The damage didn't harm the paint job at all. When I got there I pulled it off. That was after 4 days and 2800 miles. It came of no problem. And when I returned I put some more on, and did the return trip. The best thing about it was that only one person noticed it was on the car. And after the trip the car looks as good as it did before I left. About $15 in duct tape. Cheap to say the least. I also have the 3M clear bra on the front of the car. Great stuff. I'd have it put on again in a heart beat. There's my .02
If you go that route, beware of speed bumps.
I have heard of folks who had the hard plastic front guards bottom them out and end up cracking the fiberglass of the wheel well.

I was thinking about splashguards when I was driving from Cleveland to Miami and back in December. Instead i just used masking tape inside the wheel wells and along the rocker panels. Every time i stopped for gas I would just pull of that nasty tape and place a new strip on, no damage to the paint at all. It even held up in the blizzard/icestorm on the way home...

I did all the wheel well lips, rockers, mirrors and front end with the 3M material. My car is also MY and you can't see a thing. I put quite a few thousand miles on it and have O rock chips anywhere on the car. (I live on a dirt road too.)
