i bought my 03 vette from out of state, had it about a month and because of the weather i've only driven it 4 or 5 times. yesterday for some reason i went to lower the passenger window and it wouldnt operate. everything else if fine. i dont see any "window lock" buttons. is there one that i'm not aware of - like holding the window button down for 3 seconds? i know its not a big deal but i'm really bumming about this. i dont want to have to bring it in for service, have the door panel pulled etc..... hoping there is something i'm overlooking - please help if possible.

Is it just the key fob that won't work the window, or won't any of the passenger or driver buttons operate it, as well?
If it is just the key fob, no biggie -- it may just need a new battery or retraining.
I had this problem in my 99. Turns out it was the passenger side control module ($250 plus labor).
i'm not really sure what the "key fob" is, i'm assuming its the remote to unlock - and i dont think that works with mine, what do you do, hold down the unlock button - nothing happens.
the drivers side window works fine, just the passenger side thats unresponsive.
My passenger window did the same thing on my 03. The day that I was suppose to take it to the dealer it started working and has been working fine now for a year. I did read a thread some time ago that the windows were getting caught up on the last gear of the window motor. Perhaps a little banging will set it free! I hope it starts working like mine did before you have to take it in.
i can definately hear the clicking sound you get when you push the button , which is the window mechanism trying to engage. where should i "hit" or bang?

I heard clicking, too. But in my case it was the control module. Hope this is not the case with you because of the expense. FYI, my dealer techie did extensive, expert trouble shooting before jumping to any expensive conclusions. What lurks behind the door panels on these cars is an electronic nightmare requiring considerable technical ability to figure out. At any rate, it was beyond me. Sorry I can't help further.
I had the same problem with my 2003. It was still under warranty, and I brought it back to a local dealer. He said the window's motor had burned out, and replaced it.
problem is finding a good place to get it serviced, i'm the guy who started the thread a week or so ago about Ramp Chevy in Port Jeff, NY not servicing any cars that they didnt sell. well i'm in that boat and since i bought out of state now i have to find not just a place for service but a GOOD place for service.
Now this is a small world. I am from Rocky Point, and, oddly, my passenger window got stuck this week. They had to replace the motor on Friday. It got stuck before, but it kinda fixed itself. I knew I was on borrowed time, but I waited until it just stopped working.
Ask around, I am sure there has to be a favorable dealer up there.
Keep warm!
