anyone been to Spring Mountain. I think I am ready to sign up but would like to hear from people who have been there and spent the bucks. Was it worth it? What did you get out of it?

My wife and I both did a special one-day session that they put on for Forum members a couple of years ago when Rupert still owned the track. First-class operation, and we really learned quite a bit about what these cars will do, even in the abbreviated class we took. It's well worth the money, imho.

It's a great place to go to learn how to drive the car. It is not a race school but you get an incrediable amount of seat time and the instructors are good. I did level one and level two and want to go back for level two again when I can find the time.

You use their cars. Mostly ZO6's. There are only 8 students in each class, so you have same car for all the classes. They are a first class operation. Well worth the money. Not a race school but teachs you how to handle a car. I would highly recommend.

Each person that takes a Spring Mountain class can learn something different. If you are new to Corvettes, then you learn how to handle your Corvette and just how fabulous the car really is.

If you've driven a Corvette for a while you will learn even more of the capabilities of the Corvette.

You will begin with braking techniques and be amazed at how you can come to a near stop, make a minor turn of the steering wheel, avoid an obstacle and continue on your way.

You will learn visual scanning - how to look where you want to go, not where the car is aimed.

You will learn heel/toe downshifting, to smoothly downshift and be gentle on the engine while not upsetting the balance of the car.

You will learn balance - how a light touch of the gas or brake will completely balance your car.

You will learn to go FAST on a race track. You will have lots & lots of seat time.

You will become a safer driver.

But most of all you will have FUN.

Spring Mountain currently has Z06s and C6 Z51 coupes. Make your choice of which car you want to drive, or trade off and drive both during your class.

And to answer your question - I have taken a class at Spring Mtn every year since 1999. Each time I learn something new, improve my skills and have even more fun.
