Does anyone else have a weird smell coming from their engine bay as the car is warming up. If i put my nose down to where the fuel rail covers are I can smell it pretty strong. No leaks, nothing burning, it has smelled like this since the day I got it. Anyone know what it might be? Kinda smells like plastic that has got hot.
Also check around your exhaust manifolds. With all the plastic fasteners used in the assembly of a Corvette it is possible that one was dropped in that area and gets hot with every warmup. Check also under your fuel rail covers. It should not still smell like that. Maybe when new and paint is burning off parts that get very hot but definitely not after that many miles..
I agree with the above it shouldn't be smelling like that. Something has got to be near the exhaust for it to smell on start up. Nothing near the intake would be hot enough at start up to burn anything. Keep us posted.
Has it been in the shop for anything? I took my 03' Tahoe to the shop because there was a ticking noise (probably piston slap) but anyways they decarbed the motor and now it smells wierd everytime I drive it.
