Default insurance?

What would be the best route to go for insurance on a 98 vette for a 17 yr old? What are some of the cheapest insurance companies and what are some ways to reduce the cost so a vette can be attainable and the legacy andhappiness of owning an american icon can continue!

Unfortunately, and I know you don't want to hear this, wait until you're 25 years old.

A very high deductible, say in the range of $5000.00 would probably help or go with liability alone. My first icon was a 57 Chevy conv. aspiring to own a Vette was way beyond my means, only one guy in high school had one.

Good luck with this one. Short of having virtually no coverage and crazy deductibles, as a 17 year old expect to pay some high premiums. Perhaps some of the other younger Vette owners out there can give you some better advice in terms of what they have done or who they have gone with, but typically insurance companies will sock it to a teenage driver with a sports car.

Price isn't the issue as Corvettes insurance (for me, 22) is the same as my Chevy Z71. Thing is they won't "let" me get coverage till I'm 25 since its a high performance vehicle.

I switched companies and my insurance is less than most any sports car, mainly because older adults drive C5s, not teens.
