I have always reinstated my insurance on March first, just because the weather will occasionally co-operate and the rain washes most of the sand off the roads... Nothing like getting a jump on the driving season!
I only had to drive from San Diego to Los Angeles and back to get mine.... BUT, I hadn't driven a stick in 20+ years and got stuck in LA bumper to bumper traffic with fender benders all around me. It was white knuckle time all the way home!
