I'm in Syracuse ... the car's in Pittsburgh (371 miles). I made the deal for the car over the phone last Saturday with a credit card deposit. 2003, spiral gray coupe, 6 speed, 1SB, magnetic ride, both tops, polished wheels, and 5,900 miles. The Chevy dealer knew the condition I was looking for and that I would fly back if I didn't like the car. An associate of mine was driving to Pittsburgh today so he gave me a ride.
I got up this morning ... 4 inches of new snow ... and snowing. We started out at 7AM and it was a solid band of lake effect snow between Syracuse and Rochester. I was thinking I'm an idiot about then but kept going. Finally it cleared up near Buffalo and the roads were only wet. By Erie the roads were clear. Very light flurries in Pittsburgh (12:45PM) but no accumulation. Inspected the car (perfect), paid for the car, and back on the road at 1:20PM.
I had brought clothes with me to stay as long as necessary to get the car back safely. As it turned out the temperature stayed below freezing, the lake effect snow stopped and the roads cleared and were dry. I got back to Syracuse at 6:30PM and never even had to turn on my windshield wipers once in 371 miles. I washed the car ... but it barely needed it. It was an adventure I won't forget.
The car worked perfectly and I am very pleased. Going to be hard to store it for a couple months ...
Store it? WTH! You just drove your new baby over 300 miles in Feb. Why would you not drive it until May. Only reason I can think of is your leaving the country for 2-3 months on vacation or going on deployment in the military.

Congratulations Bill! Glad to hear that your weather wasn't too bad. I picked mine up 11 months ago. (Naples NY to Dearborn MI and back.) Great weather out and part way back. In Buffalo I hit a snowstorm and drove my BN Vette for 2 -3 hours in it.
Now you can lose your mind for the next few months with the rest of us NYers. See you at Sylvan Beach.
