Im 20... and have my second Vette already. Looking to sell this one and move up to a C5 FRC. I had a 91 and right now I drive a 96 LT4.

I bought the cars myself and love it. You guys act like kids dont drive fast cars or mod there cars to go fast. Actually the fastest cars I see are usually driven by "kids"

If you ask me, I'd rather be in a Vette, then a crappy eco-box that most kids drive aroundin, in any accident

Im not trying to defend the fact that I have a corvette.. I just dont understand the thinking behind this. These cars handle better built better then most cars on the road therefore if driven properly... They are much safer.

Just like adults, it depends on the kid.

Some of them would wrap themselves around a tree with a Yugo. Others could drive a vette until they get Social Security and never have a problem.

The difference is maturity and over confidence. Many young people think they're much better drivers than the really are. They hear this stuff about faster reflexes and think they can outdrive Jeff Gordon. They don't understand yet that those reflexes are worth nothing compared to decades of experience.

But SOME few do realize that and they'd be safe in a Porsche Turbo.

Corvette insurance is alot cheaper than Z28/SS/WS6/etc. and I think its because of two things:

A. Older people drive Vettes

B. A Corvette handles its power alot better than the others.

Yeah here we go again. I messed up when I wrapped the '00 WS6 around a pole. Now that I have the Vette I find myself more controlled for whatever reason. Anyways, we all need to be responsible.

its the same thing over and over!!

people.... ITS JUST A CORVETTE!!!!!!!!

Well i blame thier parents, what kid can afford a corvette and pay the insurance. I would not let any kid drive one (without me in it).
glad your not my parents!!! i got my car last year at 19. im paying for it myself, but im not going to lie, im under my dads insurance, but i still have my own coverage. i pay about 250 a month for insurance, plus the car note.

blame my parents for what? my dad drives a C5 and is proud that his son does also. this is our 4th vette in the family.

my first car was a 90 RS camaro, i paid cash when i was 15. then bought a stock 95 LT1, then bought a 94 LT1 and modded it into the 12's (doing all the work myself)

ive always wanted a vette, so i sold my LT1 and bought one. the day i brought it home, all my dad said was "becareful, and enjoy it!"

modded hondas are beating vettes, c'mon guys our cars really arent that fast anymore. would you buy your kid a neon SRT-4??? its a neon not a vette, but it will run 13's

....oh and im 20 now, and hopefully next year will have the car paid off, and will be supercharging it!!

like my license plate dont you?!?!

Yeah, because every person from the age of 16-25 is exactly the same.

Come on people, every person is different. Saying that no person at any certain age should or shouldn't have a certain type of car is stupid.

A stupid irresponsible person is going to do stupid irresponsible things no matter what car they drive.

[QUOTE=StoCK][QUOTE=Prosecutor]I think most teenagers would not qualify for the privilege of driving a Vette.

Thats the type of answer I am looking for.
Now wait a minute, StoCK. In your initial post you said:

"P.S.- I would like everyone to know that I am not trying to start a war or recieve any criticism, I am just trying to see what people think about this subject."

If you were looking for specific responses such as "most teenagers would not quality for the priviledge of driving a Vette" why didn't you just lead with that?

If a youngster can pony up the money for a Vette, or convince the parents to get one for him/her, why not? This isn't a priviledge, administered by law. This is a PURCHASE. If the kid wraps the car around a post, I just hope that the kid isn't in the gene pool. Natural selection, you know.

unfortunately i think insurance rates will start to rise on the C5 as young kids start buying/wrecking them

btw im young

If one can afford the car and insurance, then why not. At this very moment 18 year olds are carrying rifles and laying their life on the line in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Reminds me of a 19 year old many many years ago who bought a '68 Vette 32 days before reporting for duty in Vietnam.

Being immature spans all age groups. Maturity is a state of mind. Just my .02

I bought my C5 at the tender age of 42, but if I could of afforded it at 19 years old, I would of. I got a Vette for my benefit, and I didn't give a crap what anyone else thought. A 20 year olds' money is as green as mine; Chevrolet will gladly sell them anything they want! I really don't worry too much about what everyone else is driving; the only thing that matters to me is that I'm driving my dream car!
