Thank you all for your support. Honestly, it's people like that creature that keeps this world at war. We appear as a species to relish and truly enjoy the destruction and bloodshed of each other - whether physical or metaphorical.

We, as humans, spend the few short irreplaceable years we have on this Earth hating each other. Isn't that sad? Pathetic.

Life is short and life is one way. I will continue to live my life without compromise, with honour and dignity and courage. So if the trolls in The Great Anonymous Internet wish to take cheap shots, well, they can knock themselves out. My life is full without their input, for I regard them all as perfect examples of matter : has weight and occupies space.

And to round out my day which began with a snowstorm, then an unprovoked attack by an imbecile, and now this...

My State DMV withdrew my original vanity plate " NFERNO " and replaced it with " GROND " today (this was my original third choice and is an obscure literary allusion).

Apparently some religious group complained about my plate so they had to withdraw it. What next???

Oh well... Such is life. I sing in my church choir and I do not see it as offensive - especially since the reference is to Milton's Paradise Lost and not to Dante's Inferno. So many small minds... the pendulum has swung too far... Intellegence and wisdom are not to be found in these modern times...

Inferno is no more. Welcome instead----- GROND !!

The battering ram used to destroy Minas Tirith's Great Gate during the Battle of the Pelennor? The one that got its name from the ancient weapon of Morgoth: Grond, the Hammer of the Underworld - that GROND?

The second - Morgoth's Ring. Indeed, it is the Hammer of the Underworld. The hammer that slew Fingolfin, High King of the Noldorin.

It is good to meet one that is deep in elven lore.

EG, in the short but sweet time that I've experienced your insightful, witty and uncompromising intellect and humor, I take my hat off to you! You make me laugh because you are able to laugh at yourself (a valuable and rare commodity).

I personally feel that you gave this guy too much of your time by replying to his every attack although I understand your reason for doing so. A simple "WHATEVER" would have probably been sufficient and equally piercing but again I understand.

The attack was cowardly and unwarranted in the first place but if it looks like a Troll and smells like a Troll...blah...blah...blah

Thank you for all that you do and it's very apparent to anyone that reads this post that you are most loved and admired by all.

BTW...your .gif's ROCK!!!!

I can't believe they withdrew your plate because of a complaint from some religious freak. The whole world would be a safer place without religion. Besides, doesn't Satanism have a right to be considered an alternative religion these days? Everything else is! LOL.

Hope this evens the balance:

Man, what rock did that creature crawl out from under. I missed all the fireworks. Sorry EG that I wasn't around to stick up for you my friend. You have brought many many laughs to this forum. Personally I have never seen EG hijack a thread, maybe inject a little humor and move on but never hijack. Sounds like this person has some serious issues to deal with. The best way to deal with vermon like this is to ignore them completely. I know it can be difficult but it is the best and easiest way to get rid of them. If you don't respond they will slither elsewhere. If you respond you only fuel the fire.

When I first happened onto the forum last September and started to peruse the threads my first thought was man this place is full of smart azzes. But the more time I spent here the more I saw that it was more fun than serious (for the most part). Now I can't imagine the forum without the humorous side to it. EG keep the faith and keep us in stiches. Oh, and to get back on topic, I think Grumpy said it best!

Wayne,

Here's my plate on my big block Merc when I lived in Bucks, England in the 90s. I had a little name tag on the back marked "Lucifer" in red and the plate you can see In my instance, it meant "Light Bringer", which is the first meaning of that word, because my nickname was "Lights"

Never got any heat for that - especially from the constabulary who would wave in traffic and tell me "nice car" It was VERY loud - much louder than my Vette, too.

Regarding Inferno : As to what religious group or what their gripe was - that was not disclosed, nor was it disclosed if this was personal or just a state wide withdrawal of all "suspect" plates. Who knows? I saw an excellent CT plate back on 1999 - "3 Sixes" - loved it

Oh well. Grond has deeper disturbing and serious demonic connotations except they have not the literary depth to plumb this one...

Gotta love America though. At least I get to keep my guns

Stephen

Thanks TC, Zilla, GB, and gspotski!!

As I said to the creature, I may indeed act irreverent and foolish and shamelessly so silly things - but I try to balance my nonesense by giving back to this Forum what little I know.

Thanks all!

Emblem - okay and on the nose. I kinda like the look without the circles.. A certain amount of panache' for you, but in a subtle E.G. approach.

The "R" on the otherhand.....how shall I say that gets the meaning across, but unoffensive......hmmmmm. The "R" is

Have a nice day E.G.
