Default DYNO - Disappointed Big Time!

EDIT: TO CLARIFY - TODAY'S DYNO WAS NOT AT A&A

There was ANOTHER DYNO DAY IN SAN DIEGO......

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1012036

I never meant to imply I left A&A like this.......

-------------------------------------------------------------------
It was dyno day here in SoCal.....I've been looking forward to this with my new mods, which are LT headers, X pipe, Vararam (all installed by A&A) as well as Borla Singers (installed by me). Wow....what a disappointment.

My new numbers from today are 304.9 rwhp and 291.4 rwtq.

My old numbers from November, BONE STOCK were 296.5 rwhp and 305.3 rwtq.

How in the hell did I only gain 8 rwhp and LOSE 14 rwtq from my mods???? I was really expecting 325/325....even without a tune. And Andy even told me I shouldn't really even need one with these minor mods.

One other thing.....I (or A&A to be more accurate) also changed gears from the stock 3.42's to 4.10's. Now I've seen arguments where this can cost you numbers on a dyno, but even if it is true, not THAT much.

Here's a link to my current dyno.....
http://nelsonresidence.com/downloads/march05dyno.jpg
(this is all I have now....will get more detailed results like the old dyno in a couple of days....)

Here's a link to my old dyno....(better format.....more details)
http://www.dynoperformance.com/searc...ils.php?ID=779

This is the exact same dyno, the exact same shop, very similar temp/conditions, etc.....

Anybody got any suggestions? (other than the obvious "you need a tune").......

I know Andy is getting a call on Monday.....that's for sure.....

This is NOT making me happy.....

Oh....and my car is a '99 MN6.

Something is not right in Dodge. You are correct - those are terrible numbers!!

You should be at 340+ with those mods. Is your car pulling to redline? Slipping clutch? Running really rich? Any indication at all why it proformed so poorly???

My new max HP looks like it was achieved at about 6000.....so yeah, it's pulling to redline. Fuel is a little rich......looks to be about 11.7.....but was rich in the first dyno too.....about 11.3.

My clutch is pretty weak....but it doesn't feel like it's slipping.

I lost 10rwhp when i went from 3.42 to 3.73. You might want to check your sources on how much those 4.10's just cost you on the dyno. If you're really worried about it, get yourself dyno tuned.

84zz: clearly you forgot to have some of the Krispy Kreme's this morning. Those were good for at least 15-20 hp/tq!

Two things seem to jump out to me.

1. There will be a loss of RWHP with the change in gears.

2. You have a 99, but do not indicate the mileage. If it is greater than 40k, and assuming you have never replaced the slave, it is extremely likely that you have some HP loss from that fact alone.

Dude..

I don't know why nobody else has chimed in here,
I know EXACTLY what the problem is..

You said "fuel is a little rich @11.7 and was 11.3"

Bro, you're f'n PIG RICH YOU FAT BASTARD!

Your AFR should be with your set up anywhere 12.8-13.2 on the dyno..

Lean that puppy out & that 30+ HP & TQ will be looking you square in the face!

I cannot believe you were left at 11.7 without the operator mentioning that you were PIG RICH & needed at tune...

I am assuming you only paid for a dyno PULL.. to see your #'s..
Now, listen very carefully:
You need to to be TUNED! LS1 Edit on the dyno! & you'll be where you should be!

Do we need to guess what color the exhaust smoke is coming out or your exhaust? Or what it smells like?

Even from 11.3 if your tuner can't get it past 11.7, & up to 12.8-13.2, get another one..

This guy is not as dumb as I look..... and here I thought he just liked to sniff refrigerant.

There's definetely something wrong with those numbers. I would have them tune the car. When I did the LS1 edit the first dyno was 282rwhp 323rwtq with my mods (Halltech, x-pipe & Ti's). It was running extremely rich & timing needed adjustment. After the edit I'm currently at 330rwhp & 349rwtq. As you can see even with my minor mods the difference was HUGE.
