This might sound dumb but here it goes ,where do you place a level on the car to see if car is level before checking the oil? Just like to make sure car is level.
Thanks

On the garage floor or wherever you think is a level spot.

I know I have asked dumb questions before, and I usually say there is no such thing as a dumb question, but............
The reason I asked when I changed the oil & filter put in 7Qt's still shows 1/2 Qt low Garage floor is not level.
Back the car into the garage and check the oil again -- then take the average
There's an example of the GM dipstick issue. My manual says to put in 6.5 quarts -- always reads "over" full after a change (but not for long -- its an '01 !). During the change, I jack up the rear higher than the front to make sure I get as much old oil out as possible. And... my garage floor is level in the area I check the oil.
can you play hockey after you change the oil???also glaciers are not level, either are icesicles... even ice cubes are not level .. the best thing to do is go out to home depot and buy an 18 foot level... because a 2 foot level will only insure that the two feet it is checking is level... or you could go out and get a laser level, ram some stakes in the ground ( like mine med rare ). then you could get a jack hammer and level a place on your property so you can make sure your oil level is on the level....now that the ground is level then you have to make sure all the tires have the same amount of air, and also measure the tread wear front to rear.. and if there is more wear in the back, you should go out and get four new tires... to insure everything is on the level, or you could just put in 6.5 qts to7 qts like the rest of us. remember what Mr Mom ( Michael Keaton )said " Im putting in a new electric service" 220 or 221 whatever it takes.
I feel do much better now.... and thanks for the dumb question.. and the even dumberest replies.

Just get it to where the car looks level - that will certainly be close enough. Doubt that you can sit a level on the car anywhere and get a nice even bubble - the car sits higher in the rear than the front.
