Had my 02 Z06 in for some service yesterday. Tech showed me dust collecting on my rear end, drivers side. Since my warranty ends 4-28 he says lets do the seal on Monday. Fine, he orders the parts, sets the appointment, we shake hands, I get in my car, turn the key ,nothing. No problem he says, we'll put in another battery . Turns out GM discontinued the glass mat battery. So, car is in the shop for two days, since we might as well get the rear end fixed along with the battery. I don't want a wet battery on top of my computer. I guess I'll get an Optima and have a spare in case. I've heard some Optimas are short lived.
The optima is short lived if you buy the wrong one.
Red top for a car that is driven frequently and a yellow top for one that sits more than is driven.
Picked up the Z this afternoon. The Tech put in a 7yr. sealed 75-7YR 735CCA I'll keep an eye out for leaking. Changed transmission fluid to Redline MTL . Started out and man was the trans real notchy. It was 28 degrees and the car was outside for the better part of the day, but after it warmed up, boy, what a difference. Shifted as smooth as silk. I have the Mallett shifter and with the Redline it is sweet.
