Hey all, I'm flying out to Chicago this morning to pick up my Silver 97 Coupe. All has checked out very well at this point. I'll see it for the first time tomorrow morning. I expect to begin my long trip back to CA bright and early Saturday morning. Wish me luck I'm hoping to make CA by Monday night!

Good luck with everything. I've done a few out of state car purchases and enjoyed them all. My advice is to take a little more time on the trip back and enjoy the time off. Any PCH in your return trip? I recently rode some of it and the Avenue of the Giants area. Great Vette roads.
Welcome to the WINDY city. Hope you get out of town before the snow hits. I read about the end of your CE. As a frequent cross country traveler, I like the south route 40W as the 80w sees more inclimate weather and crazy winds. I make the run Chicago to Phoenix 1600 miles in about 24 hours of driving. I have a favorite steak house in Texas I stop at and usually sleep in Oklahama City OK. The half way point for me. Best of luck. TommyN

That's cool, Richard! I bought mine in Chicago in November '03, and drove it home to Phoenix! My wife and I flew in (one way tickets) on a wing and a prayer - hoping the car was everything it was supposed to be. Needless to say, it better than I could have dreamed and the trip back to Phoenix was awesome! No better way to get accustomed to new car (new to me, at least! ) than a road trip!
BTW - it was 24 degrees and snowing the day I picked mine up!
Wondering how the trip is going. Just made the trip from Detroit back home to Chicago this afternoon in the winter beater Taurus- usually takes around four hours... 7 hours tonight due to weather. Enjoy!
