Default Back from Texas

For those of your who read my post last Tuesday, or anyone else who's interested (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1033844)...

We made it back from El Paso last night. 1910.1 miles, 28.5 mpg, 26.5 hours, and no tickets, problems, or other incidents. Got a few waves on the way back, too.

I'll take some more pictures later, but here's one after we cleaned it up briefly at a friend's body shop. I had a very extensive bug collection on the front fascia that I wanted to remove before driving it around much more.

I've never been so pleased with a car... pictures don't do it justice. Glad to be a new part of the C5 club.

Welcome back! Hope you had good weather for your trip! Lots of folks put a bra on for those long trips to eliminate the "bug effect" and assorted rock chips.

Yeah, a bra was on my short list of things I forgot about taking (or buying in this case). Thankfully, as far as I can tell, nothing hit the front other than bugs.

JM:

No tickets?? I figure you were pretty lucky. A quick math check shows you averaged 72mph. Did you ever stop to eat/rest, potty, or fill up with gas? You must have kept that car moving the whole time.

btw, it looks real good.

Well, we went quickly, but we were pretty careful The stops were averaged out by western Texas highways mostly... and a few hours of late night driving each day.

I just made the trip back from Ft. Worth down to San Antonio and back through El Paso to Las Cruces New Mexico this afternoon. We had 1900 plus mile and 25 hours of driving and NO TICKETS too. I waved at all the vettes I saw but I don't remember seeing a MY. Glad you had a safe trip.

While in Ft. Worth I met up with DIYGUY, AGGIEDOC and several other forum member to run the cars on the Texas Motor Speedway. The car did great and sounds like yours did too.

Congrats! I love the color. According to my calculator you averaged 72.08 mph. You must have eaten beef jerky on the run and had quick pit stops.
