Default Ticket Dismissed Today

Went into court today for my ticket for not having my front plate displayed on my C5 in Virginia. Explained the situation to the judge and showed him a picture proving that my plate was there now. Luckily he left me off.

Sadly, now this means I have to leave the plate up front or risk getting pulled again.

How much is the ticket for no front plate?
Just got my vette, and I sure don't want to ruin it's good looks with a front plate.

I hear ya. Luckily, even though I am a Virginia resident my vette is registered through my company in Maryland. So as long as I am in VA I'm cool. I usually don't bother putting in on when I take it in to MD, but I was once pulled over and ticketed for not having it on. Now I always carry the plate with me in the back along with the screws and a screw driver. If it ever happens again I'll try to tell the cop how I live in VA and forgot to put it on and ask the cop if he'll let me off if put it on real fast.

ArmyVette, hey there neighbor. Where abouts are you located. I'm down the GW parkway half way between Old Town and Mount Vernon. I'll be sure to wave

I keep my plate on the front....underneath the cover that is. Pull the cover off for inspections etc... Got pulled over once in NY for it and told the cop I forgot to take it off after a show, popped the cover off and the plate was there. He let me go no prob...just said to remember after the next show.

Was it worth the time it took to go to the court house and then plead your case to the judge.... I just put one on and forgot about it, sure it looks a little uglier but I'm not giving any reason to get pulled over as I get pulled over enough as it is.

Good idea, I'll do the same, if I can find my front plate. I have no idea, what I did with it.

I put my cover on with velcro with the plate underneath. Just takes a second to pop the cover off.

Default Windshield

I keep my front plate under the drivers floor mat, if I get pulled over I place it on the windshield and have no problems..........

Since every small town in TX is looking to make a quick $200 it isn't worth the risk. After it's on a while you get used to it, and I still get lots of compliments on how good the car looks (and not one "that plate is ugly" comment).

Good for you. I'm hoping that I'll get the same treatment when I go in for my "hearing" in a couple of weeks.

As do most of you, I hate the front plate thing, but also hate shelling out $101 for getting stopped. The lesser of 2 evils.

Cop might think you are reaching for a gun or stashing dope...no reaching under the front seat when you get pulled over

I agree. I keep mine on and since everyone else has to have two plates on, its no big deal. I'm use to it and the car still gets plenty of compliments.

At least our plates are not the same size as those in Europe. Those plates don't even fit the front plate area. But if eveyone has 'em no big deal after awhile.

I was ticketed for no front plate AND dark side window tint. Dealer removed the tint. I installed front plate with the Kewl smoothie painted plate holder and a polycarbonate clear cover. I've gotton compliments on that front plate combination as in "if you gotta run one, that looks pretty good".

Ahhh, yes. Yet another good reason to move to Florida after retirement! That, along with no state "safety" inspection sticker there either.

Well, I do run with the front plate on however I also like the velcro idea, although I wouldn't use it in N.J. when traveling to P.A. I think might. I think c5 owners are lucky, have you seen the new c6 with the front plate on, what was gm thinking.

I have the Tiger Shark F/E on mine and don't run a front plate. I've been stopped a few times and they always let me go because I have Purple Heart/Combat Wounded plates.

Herein lies the problem. I dont like the front plate either. But I went ahead and put one with the clear plexiglass bubble thing BECAUSE......I don't want to give them any reason to come after me or pull me over. Once they got you pulled, you never know what may happen!
