When I traded my 01 in to the dealer, I told them if
someone bought the car within a few weeks, to contact me so I could
give them the chance to "buy" the warranty from me.
It was virtually a new contract and worth $1200 to me.
After 3 weeks, I got my money back. Never heard from anyone.
The dealers really don't like to forward info to new buyers.
They don't even like to keep the original sticker in the car.
When I bought my 40th Anniversary I contacted the last owner. Sent him a nice letter and a self addressed stamped envelope so he could respond. The hump never even sent back the empty envelope. But I still its fair to do this, just don't be pushy.
Yes. If he left that info for you-I'd write him 1st and tell him you'd like to talk with him about the car. Give him a chance to call you. Must be a Vette guy. He will be interested in what happened to the car. Best of luck.
Called him. Turns out he is a board member here! Found out it was his wife's car. Never been run hard and never had any problems. He did say it has a "mean green" filter whatever that is. Will do some searching. He is a real nice guy and gave me lots of info. One thing I did notice is that there is a "chirping" sound from under the hood. Sound like a REAL QUIET Paxton or somthing. Wondering if it could be the idler pully and if it is should I worry? Thanks for all the replies!

He called ME!!! And you all are right right didn't mind a bit. He got a super car was my wifes and had a lot of tender loving care. He will love the Borla stingers and the chrome rims. Also the green high flow air filter. And you all right am a car guy. Wish you the best of luck with it and hope maybe to meet you at one of the vette events this year. been on this forum many years some great folks with great information. Folks sure have helped me through the years. Heres pic of my new C6
Cool thread .props to the buyer and ex owner! Show the thread to your wife she will get a kick out of it.By the way ,what car did your wife get ,the C6? Sweet car.
Definitely contact them. I just bought a 2000 Torch Red Coupe, 6sp. It had 15k miles on it and was immaculate inside and out, top and bottom. However, getting it from a dealer, I was skeptical of the accuracy of the mileage and history of the car (even though I had a Carfax report). Regardless, I bought the car and when I got it home, I found the owners name in the truck area. I called the guy and he was very nice. He told me the mileage was accurate and that the last oil change had been at 13k. He further said the car had only been in the shop for oil changes. He said he had 3 Vettes that he was selling as his wife had broken her back and was no longer comfortable riding in them anymore. He said that he had never driven the car in the rain. He got caught in the rain once and brought the car home and took all the wheels off and dried it top and bottom. This conversation really brought me a lot of peace of mind about the car I had purchased. I realized I really had a gem. Conversely, if someone wanted to call me regarding a Vette or any other car I had owned, I would be more than willing to tell them the history of the car good or bad.
I have always contact previous owners when I buy a car at the dealerships..........I bought my Suburban at the Dealership here in SA and called the previous owner. If the person that its selling it has nothing to hide, I dont see why not he or she will put you in contact
Thats so that they got together. I tried to reach the orinal owner of my 1st vette but never had any luck. I had a ton of questiions. I think it was the major reason why I bought a new one so I would know its track record. Carfax only goes so far
